Orange Rum cake using melted Butter
This is a quick cake recipe flavored with orange zest and rum .When you crave some yellow butter cake and realized you don't have room temperature butter, this recipe will help you.Rum is optional but orange and rum definitely give this cake a nice flavor and aroma.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- grated zest of one orange
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 3 tbs melted butter
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/3 cup milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 cup rum
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Melt butter, let it cool.In a medium bowl beat sugar, eggs, orange zest and salt until thick .Fold in flour and baking powder. Stir in melted butter along with milk. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let it cool. Puncture the cake all over with wooden skewer and brush the cake with rum. Cool it completely and decorate with any frosting or simply dust with powdered sugar.
