Home style Crispy Onion Rings - You can also freeze it and fry later!
Ingredients
- 2 large onion
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1.5 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp crushed black pepper
- oil for frying
Directions
Cut the onion into 1/2 inch wide rings. Beat the egg with the milk.
Mix the flour with salt, black pepper and baking powder. Add this to
the egg mixture and make a smooth batter by adding 1/2 cup of water.
Add more water if required. Spread the breadcrumbs in a plate. Dip
each onion ring with the batter and then coat with the breadcrumbs.
Shake off the excess breadcrumbs and fry in oil at 350 degree F until crispy and turns brown. Allow them to cool down on a cooling rack. The breadcrumb coated onion rings can be frozen and then fried later

I like this batter and coating! I had used a rice flour, flour and corn flour combo...but it seems , the bread crumb is the key. WIll try soon
