Rice Upma / Arisi upma
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw rice
- 2 tbs toor dal
- 2 dry red chilles
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp whole pepper
- 1 tsp channa dal
- 1 tsp urad dal
- curry leaves few
- 1/4 tsp hing powder( asafoetada)
- 1/4 tsp ginger chopped
- 1 tbs veg oil
- 2 cups water
- salt as needed
Directions
Wash rice and
daal together and drain the water. When it is completely dry pulse it in a mixer or blender
( turn the button left for 2 -3 times) with dry red chilli and cumin seeds and set aside. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds followed by urad dal, channa dal, whole pepper, curry leaves, ginger and hing powder. When dals turn golden add the ground rice dal mixture, add 2 cups water, adjust salt and bring to boil. Now close the lid, turn to low heat and simmer it for 15 to 20 minutes or till done. Serve with coconut coriander chutney, chutney powder ,sambar etc.
This rice upma recipe luks simple but very tempting...nice presentation.
