Meen Peera
Meen peera is a coconut based dish made usually with small fish.
Ingredients
- 1 cup anchovies
- 1/2 tbsp ginger ,grated
- 1/2 tbsp garlic, chopped
- 3/4 cup grated coconuts
- 2 green chillies
- kokum( kudampuli) or tamarind extract
- 2 to 3 shallots, chopped
- salt as needed
- curry leaves, afew
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
Directions
If you are using kokum , soak in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes. Coarse grind ginger, garlics, green
chillies, and shallots in a blender without adding water. Heat oil in a pan add the crushed coconut mixture.Add turmeric powder, kudampuli anchovies, curry leaves and salt. Sprinkle some water and cook covered on low flame for 8-10 minutes. Stir in between to avoid sticking at the bottom. Serve with rice.
