Spicy Rava Pongal
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup cooked moong dal
- 1/2 cup rava (semolina)
- 1 tsp black peppercorn
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp asfoetida
- 1/2 tsp green chillies cut in rounds
- 1 to 2 tbs ghee(clarified butter)
- salt, as needed
- curry leaves to garnish
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
- 5 to 8 cashew nuts
Directions
Roast the rava till a nice aroma appears, set aside. Fry the black pepper
and cumin seeds in 1 tsp ghee and grind to a fine powder, keep aside.In
a deep bottomed vessel add the cooked moong dal with 3/4 cup water and
let it boil. Add salt at this point. Add the fried rava, little by little stirring
continuously till the rava cooked completely. Once cooked,add the powdered
pepper and jeera. Garnish with ghee fried cashew nuts,asafoetida, green
chillies, whole peppers grated ginger and curry leaves. Pour 1 tbs ghee over
the pongal and serve with coconut chutney, pickle or sambar.
It looks so good ! Now i really have to try it !
