Snickerdoodles / Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter or veg shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 4 tbs sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In the bowl of an electric mixer cream shortening, sugar and eggs until smooth. Add sifted flour,cream of tartar, baking soda and salt . Work these ingredients until they make a dough. Drop mounts from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet, leaving 1 inch space between each cookie. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle sugar on top of each Cookie. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Though I havent had these till now I can see that these are perfectly baked :) Feel like making these now but my hubby doesnt have a sweet tooth, rather, he prefers spicy/savoury snacks! Hence I'll have to eat 3/4th of what I make! Therefore I have saved your bookmarked desserts for a special occasion :)

Regarding its popularity, I do not know much, it might be called different according to locations.
I am a new bee... I have heard people in Alleppy say that they prepared cheeni and meen curry whereas those in Ernakulam, that they prepared kappa and meen curry...
See the difference...
I will someday write the story and mistakes of "maladu" to clear the problems people still make in Kerala...
