Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sift flour,baking powder and salt into a bowl and set aside. In another bowl cream butter and sugar until smooth and creamy. Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat them in. Add milk,alternating with flour mixture and beat for 2-3 minutes until the batter is uniform. Pour batter into two 9 inch greased cake pans. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. For The Vanilla Custard
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 cups milk
1 egg beaten
1/2 tbsp butter
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
Directions Mix sugar,cornstarch and salt together in a sauce pan. Place the pan over medium heat and gradually add milk,cooking and stirring with a whisk for 3- 4 minutes or until the mixture is thick. Gradually add about a cup of hot mixture to beaten eggs. Return mixture to the pan. Cook for about 2 minutes at low heat,do not let the mixture to boil. Remove from heat and add butter. Let mixture cool completely , when cold stir in vanilla extract. Place one of the cake layers on a cake plate,top with custard and then the other cake layer.Drizzle chocolate ganache over the cake and gently spread on top.

Nice qustion Mangala,i know it doesn't look like normal pie..It was first made at Boston's parker House Hotel and that time they made it on pie tins,thats how it got the famouus name Boston Cream Pie..
