Ingredients
- 2 cups Greengram (cherupayar)
- 1 cup Grated fresh coconut
- 1 cup Jaggery or brown sugar
- 2 tbs Ghee(Clarified butter)
- pinch of Salt
- Cardamom powder (optional)
- 2 cups All purpose flour
Directions
Soak the green gram in water for 2 hours. Cook the soaked greengram with
2 cups of water and little bit of salt in a pressure cooker. Heat the cooker andcook for one minute after pressure builds up and starts releasing steam.
Remove from heat and let it cool. It should not be overooked and too soft.
Drain the water completely and keep aside. Heat ghee in a pan and add
jaggery to it. When it starts melting add coconut and cooked greengram.
Mix well and remove from the heat. At this point add cardamom
powder and mix well. Make some small lemon sized balls with this
greengram mixture. Make a thick paste with flour adding water
and and little bit salt. Heat oil in a pan. Coat each greengram ball with flour
mixture and deep fry till golden brown. Enjoy with a cup of tea.
