Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cake flour
- 5 egg whites
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries sliced
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Sift the flour, salt and half of the sugar,
keep aside. In a large bowl combine egg white, warm water, cream of
tartar and vanilla extract. Slowly add the sugar beating at medium
speed. Once you achieved medium peaks, start adding flour slowly.
Using a spatula fold in gently, until all of the mixture is incorporated.
Bake for 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center of cake
comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes or more.
To make the filling, slice strawberries, sprinkle with sugar and set
aside. Cut the cake horizontally into two layers. Spread whipping cream on the bottom layer and cover with an even layer of sliced
strawberries. Place the top layer on the top of the filling
and press down lightly. Decorate with whipping cream and fresh
strawberries.
Refrigerate the cake until ready to serve.
