Puttu Upma / Upma With Leftover Puttu




Ingredients
  • 2-3 pieces puttu
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped lengthwise
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • curry leaves to garnish
  • coriander leaves, to garnish
  • 1 tsp chopped ginger
    1 dried red chilli
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or ghee
Directions

Crush the puttu ( For Puttu recipe click here) to a coarse mixture with hand. Mix well with salt water and coconut(adding coconut is optional), and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds followed by red chilli, curry leaves and chopped ginger. Now add onions and saute till they become translucent. To this add puttu mixture ,mix well and cook covered for 3 to 5 minutes.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Note : You can do the same with wheat,rava puttu.

    plus left over porottas can be used to make kuthu poratta. ur picture looks good.
