Blackforest Cake
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tbs vinegar
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup strong instant coffee
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F .Mix milk and vinegar and keep aside. Sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt.In a large bowl, whisk together the egg,oil, coffee and vanilla. Stir in the sour milk. Beat in the flour mixture until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let it cool. then cut the cake in half ,horizontally and poke some holes with tooth pick on the first layer. Sprinkle sugar syrup. Spread the layer with whipped cream and top with fresh cherries. Place the second layer and repeat the same.Frost the entire sides with whipped cream and sprinkle chocolate curls and decorate with cherries.
For the Syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup kirsch( cherry liqueur or brandy)
To Make The Syrup
In a sauce pan combine sugar and water, and simmer until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in kirsch, let it cool.
whipped Cream recipe
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tbs powdered sugar
To make the Whipped Cream Topping
In a large mixing bowl beat the cream,vanilla and sugar until stiff peaks form. (Before u start, keep the bowl and beaters in refrigerator for 30 minutes)
